There is plenty to do. None of it is compulsory.
Some guests do all of this in a weekend. Plenty of others get as far as the verandah and stop. Both are the correct use of the place.

From the property
The back-gate trails
Forty kilometres of marked trail start at the top of the orchard — walking and mountain bike, graded green through black. The short loop is an hour and comes back past the dam. The long one takes most of a day and you should take water.

4 km
The dam
Marron in season, redfin all year, and flat water most mornings. There is a boat ramp, a shelter, and almost never anybody there on a weekday. We keep two kayaks; ask and they are yours for the day.

15–30 min
Cellar doors
A dozen within half an hour, most of them small enough that the person pouring made it. Three do lunch properly. We keep a marked-up map in each cottage with the ones worth the drive and the ones worth the detour.

12 min
The brewery
A shed, a lawn, eight taps and a wood oven. Kids and dogs everywhere, live music on Sundays, and no bookings — turn up early or turn up late.

8 min
The pub
A country pub that does one thing extremely well and does not pretend otherwise. Roast on Sundays. Book on a long weekend or you will not get a table.

18 min
The golf course
Eighteen holes, genuinely good, and rarely busy. Guests of the estate play at the member rate — mention where you are staying at the pro shop and they will sort it out.

10 min
Saturday markets
Every Saturday morning, year round. Produce, bread, cheese and a coffee cart with a queue. This is where to shop for the weekend if you are cooking, and the reason we do not stock the cottages with much beyond breakfast.
Ask us before you plan anything
Half of this is seasonal and some of it depends on the weather that week. Tell us what you are hoping to do when you enquire and we will tell you whether it is on.
